Babarinde, has extolled his late mother’s
virtues, saying that while mama’s Soul continues to find peace with her creator, that the she will surely be missed
Chief Mrs Florence Tejumola Babarinde (nee Akangbe), it would be recalled, died
recently at 83.
According to Babarinde,
“Chief Mrs Florence Tejumola Babarinde (nee Akangbe) was born on February 1,
1938 to the family of late Pa
David Akojede and Late Madam Victoria Otolorin Ogunrinola Akangbe of Kiire
Village, Igbo-Elerin District
in Lagelu local government
area, Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria.
“She was the last born of
her mother’s children, four
female and one male. This
made her to enjoy the protection, affection and goodwill
of her siblings.
At the tender age, she was
sent to live with her uncle, the
late Chief (Elder) OladepoLabiyi (aka Ologbojo). During
this period, she attended CAC
Primary School, Olugbode,
Ibadan, for her primary education.
“She later attended Methodist Teacher Training College, Sagamu for her Teachers’ Grade III & II Certificates.
Thereafter, she taught at
Methodist Primary School,
Olodo, Ibadan between 1961
and 1963, Ajota Primary
School and later United Primary School, Ayetoro, Egbado, Ogun State up till 1968
when she proceeded to Lagos
in company of her husband.
